President JCI Galway By President JCI Galway

#BeBetter

Since the establishment of JCI Galway in 1961, we have served as a leadership training platform to encourage young people to be active citizens and create positive change in several areas including individual, international, community, and business.

It is with great honour to have been voted into office of the President of Junior Chamber International Galway at our Members AGM in October 2018. Building on the success of 2018 which saw JCI Galway become the 2nd largest chapter in Ireland with over 20 new members and every member growing with experience, skills & new friendships formed. In 2019 the new Council will continue the good work done by, and set the bar higher for all members for an exciting year ahead.

Junior Chamber Galway has always been more than just events & projects, we represent the young professional in Galway City & County (18-40 years old) across Business and the Community. We give members opportunities to grow, upskill in areas that might not be possible at work or other groups and a common pattern for all members is the new friendships that is formed through JCI.

In 2018 we relaunched the Galway Tourist Guide as well bringing back previous structures that served members well down through the decades and in 2019, you can expect to see even more of this with new & old projects, a strong focus with training courses & speakers, International trips across the JCI World and in accepting the challenge set by JCI Ireland.

JCI Galway has always been one of the strongest chapters not just in Ireland but the world, where in 2006 we won the Best World Chapter under our local President, Catherine Laffey. This year the President Advisor & Mentor to Junior Chamber Galway is also Catherine Laffey! We have also enshrined in our constitution the Senior Membership role in welcoming back all past JCI members over the age limit of 40. Their wisdom, knowledge & experience to current members is a vital part to the continued growth of our chapter, for young professionals in Galway and a break-out year for JCI Galway in 2019.

Finally, a message to all members to thank you for your efforts in 2018 from TOYP, FBA, Clean Up events, Trainings, Workshops, the Galway Tourist Guide, and hosting the biggest JCI Ireland National Convention in recent memory. Being an active citizen, makes where we live in Galway a better place. This year our theme is: #BeBetter
