Local and National Projects

Local projects are projects ran by members of JCI Galway and is an ideal way to get involved while learning new skills. As a JCI member, you can get involved in an existing project or have support in running your own project to make a positive impact in your local community.

JCI Galway Tourist Guide

The Galway Tourist Guide was published by JCI Galway for nearly 60 years, between 1962 - 2021.

The project consists of the printing and free distribution of an 80-page full colour tourist guide to Galway City and County. 60,000 copies were distributed annually.

JCI TOYP serves to formally recognise young people who excel in their chosen fields and create positive change.

By recognising these young people, JCI raises the status of socially responsible leaders in this world. TOYP is run Locally, Nationally and International.

Galway Young Entrepreneur Awards

Celebrating 21 years of promoting entrepreneurship, the Galway Young Entrepreneur Awards is the longest running competition of its type in Galway.

The awards seek to recognise and reward the achievement of the county's best entrepreneurs aged 18-40, including a Entrepreneurs Expo and Awards Ceremony.

Santa's Workshop

Santa is raising money for local community Charity with all proceeds going to Croí Heart & Stroke Charity. Santa was in town and met lots of Children and Big Kids too. It was an amazing time.

The 1st week of September this year marks what is, perhaps one of the most important weeks on the JCI International Calender, Active Citizenship Week.

Leadership Academy is JCI Ireland’s flagship training event and is headed up by head trainer Catherine Laffey and assistant trainers.

Public Speaking Championship

The JCI World Public Speaking Championship offers members a unique opportunity to exercise and showcase their abilities.

A speech competition requires a special kind of public speaking, challenging participants to express creative ideas in a clear and captivating manner.

Tri-Nations Debating Championship

Debating skills equip members to advocate the message of social responsibility, resolve conflicts, respect differences and overcome obstacles.

Each year at the JCI Area Conferences and JCI World Congress, national teams contend for the title of JCI World Debating Champions. JCI Ireland won the World competition in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

World Cleanup Day

During September with World Cleanup Day, people in 150 countries will stand up against the global trash problem and clean up waste, making it the biggest positive civic action the world has seen.

To date, nearly 120 countries and 20 million people have joined us to clean up illegal waste.

Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny project helps to put a smile on children's faces with the Galway Easter Bunny visiting the University Hospital Galway & other venues on Easter Sunday. 

Packed with Easter Eggs and friends from our cos-play supporters, we have seen Captain America and many others in making this day a special one. The project dates back to past decades from JCI Galway.


International Twinning

The JCI Twinning Program is a voluntary and reciprocal agreement between national organizations or local organizations in different countries, regions or cities.

Local Branches can sign twinning agreements between other International local Branches.
